Salthill Devon Women fill the WC Void with big win

It was a rest day at the world cup but SDFC women’s team beat Corrib Rangers in the Connacht cup semi-final last night in a very wet Drom. SDFC 5 Corrib Rangers 3.
A much tighter game then the score line reflected – the game remained even for 80 mins. Akin to the world cup matches this game had it all…penalties given , not given , three wonder goals from Ciara “Messi” Lynagh – two from 25 yard free kicks.

The midfield battle saw some crunching tackles, with Cadhla Gillen also scoring on a break, and some wonderful wing play by speedy Caroline Carter who slotted home with a clinical finish.

They move on to the Connacht Cup final hopefully doing a” kenny” special on either Ballina or Colmanstown who play July 12th.

Dates for the Diary
