Girls U12 Div 1: Salthill Devon B 8 - 0 Colga B Salthill Devon B 8 - 0 Colga BConditions for Salthill Devon’s second league match against Colga Bs could not be more different as the rain-clouds opened on a windy evening in Drom. From the very beginning Devon’s midfield of Meadhbh Corcoran, Bronagh Berry and Hannah Connaughton began to dictate the tempo of the game and they put together some fine passing moves. Sarah Dunleavy and Shaunnagh Diviney played very well in the defence to keep Colga’s chances to a minimum. In attack Amber Devaney and Roisin Hanney were causing Colga’s defence a lot of problems. Five minutes into the half Meadhbh Corcoran won the ball on the left side of midfield and set up Hannah Connaughton who coolly placed the ball into the corner of the net for Devon’s first. Roisin Hanney worked tirelessly and saw her hard work pay dividends as she scored three successive goals for a well deserved first-half hat-trick. Meadhbh Corcoran added two goals from distance and Bronagh Berry joined her on the score sheet just before the break. Bronagh Berry replaced Catherine Timon in goals for the second half. Catherine Timon did not take long to start linking up well with Roisin Conneely, Amber Devaney and Hannah Connaughton who were generating a lot possession in midfield. Another mazy run from Meadhbh Corcoran set up Roisin Hanney for her fourth goal of the game. Minutes later it was Catherine Timon with a pinpoint pass that put Meadhbh Corcoran through to complete her hat-trick. Captain on the night Roisin Conneely almost added to the scoring but saw her shot from distance clip the top of the crossbar. The Colga keeper played very well, making some wonderful saves throughout the game. With only a couple of minutes remaining Hannah Connaughton cut inside the Colga defence to score her second and wrap up a very impressive performance by the Salthill Devon girls.
